Frank L. Lynch, S.J. Social Science Award
The Departmental Award in Social Science is given to a student
who has demonstrated academic excellence in the social sciences,
has demonstrated leadership in social science activities,
and has shown exceptional promise as a social science scholar
and professional.
- John F. Doherty Social Science Award
The John F. Doherty Social Science Award is given to a student
who has demonstrated academic excellence in the social sciences,
has worked towards a social science as a tool for social
critique and social change, and has shown potential as a
social sciences teacher and researcher.
- John J. Carroll, S.J. Social Science Award
The John J. Carroll, S.J. Social Science Award is given
to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence in
the social sciences, has demonstrated a potential for bridging
social science perspectives with national issues, and has
shown promise as a social science advocate.
- Mary Racelis Social Science Award
The Mary Racelis Social Science Award is given to a student
who has demonstrated academic excellence in the social sciences,
has shown interest and involvement in cause-oriented groups,
and has demonstrated notable promise in social science advocacy
work.
- Ricardo G. Abad Social Science Award
The Ricardo G. Abad Social Science Award is given to a student
who has demonstrated academic excellence in the social sciences,
has demonstrated multi-faceted interests in social science
work, and has shown much promise as social science communicator.
- Wilfredo F. Arce Social Science Award
The Wilfredo F. Arce Social Science Award is given to a
student who has demonstrated academic excellence in the
social sciences, has demonstrated potential in handling
policy issues, and has shown promise as a social science
administrator.
- Fernando N. Zialcita Excellence in Cultural Heritage Award
The Fernando N. Zialcita Excellence in Cultural Heritage
is given to a student who has demonstrated multi-faceted
interests in cultural heritage and has developed sensitivity
and involvement in aspects of cultural heritage that need
to be protected and managed.
- Emma Porio Social Science Award for Best Student Paper/Thesis
The Emma Porio Social Science Award for Best Student Paper/Thesis
is given to a student who is able to apply sociological
and anthropological theories in the understanding of a social
phenomenon in an eloquent, creative and original manner
for a paper/thesis written within the framework of SA 105,
the Department’s integrative course in Guided Research.
Graduate
- Graduate Research Award in Sociology and Anthropology
The Graduate Research Award in Sociology and Anthropology
is given to a graduate student who has demonstrated excellence
in thesis research, has shown outstanding ability to link
theory, data and practice, and has demonstrated notable
promise as a social science scholar and practitioner
